Everyone can benefit from learning how to learn more effectively.

Knowledge-ABLE provides a unique collection of the author's personal experiences in education, coupled with research and strategies that are synthesized into patterns and themes that highlight the importance of the learning process to enhance student achievement.

Our education system today is still largely measuring student achievement based on the amount of knowledge that students can demonstrate on high-stakes, standardized tests. However, the information and skills that are measured on these tests are no longer aligned with the current demands of a rapidly-evolving world. Because of this, students are entering our global society without the skills they need to be successful in life.

But what if our schools had the audacity to measure student achievement not by the accuracy of their answers, but by the quality of their questions? What if our teachers had the autonomy to help students develop the level of profound inquiry needed to solve complex problems? And what if our students had the agency to explore their strengths and talents, and apply them to real world scenarios that they find meaningful and relevant?

I believe that if we are able to invest in the process of learning, we can teach our students to become confident and competent learners who will enter this world as empathetic, critical thinkers ready to accomplish any task, and succeed in any environment. Thereby, shifting the paradigm of education from one that is knowledgeable, to one that is knowledge-able.
