The Process

How might I intentionally model the learning process in order to successfully write and publish a book that positively impacts the broader education community?

This is the question that I asked myself before I even began writing this book. Since I had never written a book before, I knew I had a lot to learn. So I thought, why don't I model my own learning by documenting my thoughts and ideas while I write the book? And that is exactly what I decided to do.

One of my goals for this book is to put out content that I perceive as valuable to the field of education and publish it to my blog in order to receive feedback from multiple perspectives. Not only do I hope to reflect on the learning process while I write, but I also hope to throw some proverbial pasta on the wall to see what sticks and what doesn't.

What I did not expect, however, was the amount of knowledge that I have gained from writing this book. As I started to write, I noticed that I began making new connections, going off on research tangents, and synthesizing information into new patterns and themes. Before writing this book, I originally set out to share the knowledge that I already had. I didn't anticipate how much I would actually learn throughout the writing process.

Therefore, I am continuing to publish blog posts from time to time for public review with the hope that—after several iterations—it will ultimately help me to reflect and learn more about a topic for which I am deeply passionate, as well as refine my content to make this book even more relatable and applicable to my readers.
